A l'origine le stade de Colombes était un champ de courses. En 1907, l'hippodrome fut racheté par le quotidien " Le Matin " pour être transformé en un stade apte à recevoir des rencontres de sports collectifs. Les tribunes existantes furent simplement aménagées autour du nouveau terrain et l'emblème du Matin fut apposé sur la tribune principale. Le Stade du Matin fut inauguré le 24 mars 1907.

Initially, the Colombes stadium was a racecourse. In 1907, the facilities were bought by the daily newspaper " Le Matin " in order to convert them into a stadium where football and rugby games could be played. The existing stands were adapted around a new pitch and the newspaper's emblem was set on the main stand. The Stade du Matin was inaugurated on 24 March 1907.
